H,
Sorry for the delay in replying.
I took a day off yesterday and did not read my mail. I was a bit lost without
it but in the best way possible. Being alone can be a scary prospect but I am
sure it is not a fruitless experience when solitude is for the right reason of
connecting with the more of yourself toward God.
On earth though, this
present state of earth, and even beyond, we need a connection to each other to
really be complete. We are not made to be mountains of exclusivity but forests
of love. There is no space for the lone ranger on the road to God. We help each
other, we feed each other, we learn to rely on each other and we learn to be
reliable to each other. There will be fractures and fissures and terrible
uproars of the soul but we will get better at the love. That is the vital
thing. Getting better at the love.
You and I are a living
testament to the imperfect nature of all friendships. There is no space for pretense in intimacy. All cracks will show. It challenges you to look at
yourself full in the face and get the necessary feedback of love about your
hollow spaces. Friendship does not fix your empty spaces. Only God can do that.
It tells you that you are not alone. It tells you there is a community of
imperfection being made perfect by love.
