H,
In both cases, the love of
God is supreme. Friendship with God should move from ideal into brilliant
reality. There is no longer anything shrouded about it. The mystery is solved
and God is closer to the human heart than ever before. We can, even today, draw
nearer to Him as He has already drawn nearer to us.
We owe Him our full selves
because He has already giving us His full self. We have to remember what it
feels like to not get the full person from someone you love. It simply does not
work if someone is holding back.
This is the first thing we
have to unlearn about God. That we need to hide our sins from Him. It is that
hiding, more than the treatable sin, which creates the wedge between us. We must
be open. We must be absolutely straight with God. It is not that He does not
know the details. It is for our own sense of talking to someone. It is the
eternal talking cure. It is expression and building a bridge. It is the start
of all prayer.
There are many narrow roads
on the way to God. No one follows the exact same path. Our comraderies are
formed by where we are going not by morphing into one single entity. We are not
all the same person. This is vital because we will not always agree or see
things the same way. This might lead to us getting bitter and argumentative. This
is not the intention of the many roads. This is even why God has set the bar at
love not at gift or calling. We get lost looking for ‘purpose’ in life.
The only purpose of life is
to love. The other things take us closer to loving or farther away from love. The
only purpose of life starts by accepting God’s love. This will colour
everything else and place it in the right light so that all our diversity can
be beautiful and uplifting. There is no room for acrimony in love. There is no
room for acrimony, competition, superstition, arrogance or faux leadership. We are
all led by love. There is only room for love.
We learn how to love in
friendship with God. We start here. Our real companion is eternal. It cannot be
a fad. It has to constant. It has to be something that will always be.
We have to start on our
knees in need of our companion. We have to start with those eternal words the
Christ taught us all those centuries ago:
-Abba, Father…
