You,
“To Give of Yourself”
Admit it. Accept that everything you have was given to you by me. Then give it all up for my sake.

It is all relatively easy on paper but to actually do it is something quite different. After all, somewhere inside you is the belief, however small, that you gained everything you have through your own hard work. You put in the hours at the office. You resist the delicacies and fanciful, vainglorious things so you can save up for a rainy day. You have sleepless nights stacked full with worries about food in your stomach, a roof over your head, and clothes on your back. How then can your success be due to anything other than your own resourcefulness and brilliance?

Take for instance the millions of others around the world who work just as hard, many even harder than you but have nothing of material consequence to show for it. People who can’t make rent. People who don’t even have homes. People living in slums and on street corners barely scraping by. How can your success be due to anything you are doing? Are they not putting in enough hours? Are they not just as resourceful?

Do not live for this temporary world and things contained in it. Do not be blinded by the glint and shine. None of it is real.
