We should be moving in unison for the kingdom come and
the will be done, single minded, focused, aligned, honest,
faithful. But moving as one entity in this way can be difficult for many very human reasons.
Let us put aside our pride, our shame, our fears. They have no place here. Let us – together – draw nearer still to the source of all we have, to the one who gives this united entity its direction. There is no greater joy, no greater comfort, no greater love, no greater peace than that which is found in His presence.
We have ourselves convinced that solitude and isolation are strengths, that we are fine alone and are meant to be alone. There is nothing wrong with spending time apart of course. For many people it can be refreshing and is a great time for introspection and self examination and communing with the divine. But in reality, we don’t do any of these things when we are alone. Instead we sit in sadness or self pity or worry.
What we do as a unit headed by Him will always surpass whatever we think we can achieve as individuals led by our own desires. It is His will for us that we go through this world hand in hand. None of us was made to exist alone. Everything we are called to do involves other people in some way or the other. It will not be achieved by us hiding away from the rest of the world.
Draw nearer still to your neighbours. Draw nearer still to God.
